Laura graduated from John Paul College in 2006 as a Prefect and won the Horizons Student of the Year award. She was awarded a three-year scholarship with the Australian Institute of Sport and represented Australia at Under 17, 19 and 21 levels, winning a gold medal at the World Youth Cup in 2009.

Laura Scherian commenced her professional netball career with the Sunshine Coast Lightning and has played with the Adelaide Thunderbirds in the Suncorp Super Netball competition. Laura represented Australia in the Fast5 World Series in 2018 before making her Australian Diamonds debut in in the 2019 Constellation Cup, also featuring in the All Stars bushfire charity match in 2020. The Lightning Foundation Player was named Community Champion and Members’ Player of the Year after the 2022 season.

Laura is also a qualified Nutritionist and Naturopath and has worked for Flannery's Organic and Wholefood Market Company for over 7 years as a Naturopath and Store Manager.
