Meet the Career Mentor 2025

Alumni News

On 24 July 2025, our Year 11 and 12 students had the invaluable opportunity to participate in the biennial ‘Meet the Career Mentor’ event. This initiative is designed to support students in exploring future career options and building meaningful connections with professionals across a wide range of industries.

This year’s event welcomed over 40 mentors from our Alumni network and wider community, all of whom generously volunteered their time to share insights, advice and personal experiences from their professional journeys. Their contributions offered students a deeper understanding of the world of work and the diverse pathways available beyond graduation.

Held on campus, the event gave students direct access to mentors from industries including technology, law, health, engineering, creative industries and more. Through engaging conversations, mentors shared practical advice and real-world perspectives, helping students gain clarity around their interests and aspirations.

Among the many inspiring mentors who attended were Class of 2024 College Captain Asha Cahill Baird, now People and Culture Coordinator at LSKD, and Sally Jacobs (Class of 2002), an Advanced Care Paramedic with the Queensland Ambulance Service. The event also featured an address by Lachlan Dyson (Class of 1992), Chief Executive Officer at City of Brisbane Investment Corporation, who shared his journey and encouraged students to build a life of purpose, adaptability and courage – not just a career.

The atmosphere was filled with curiosity and enthusiasm as students engaged in thoughtful discussions, explored career possibilities and built connections that could shape their future.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our mentors who participated in this year’s event. Your generosity and expertise play a vital role in shaping the future of our students and inspiring them to reach their full potential.
